So here's the first road report!
We are on our way after picking up the camper on wednesday (with bathroom, heater, microwave and working ;) fridge).
We travelled down to the South, where we visited the Moeraki Boulders, big round stones that can have a diameter of 4 meters. The Maori see them as a stoned foodbasket of their ansestors (don't know how to write that,sorry).
We drove futher to Dunedin, a nice Victorian city in the Southeast with the most beautiful trainstation I've ever seen. Next to Dunedin is Otago Peninsula, where you see the sealine.
From Dunedin we travelled to the west and arrived today in Te Anau. We visited the Glowworm Caves. The Caves are young (only 12.000 years old) and the only light there is from the glowworms. They 'make' this light through a chemical reaction in their stommage and attract insects from the water with this light.
Tomorrow we will go to Milford Sound, one of the fjords of New Sealand. We are going on a boattrip through the fjord and with a bit of luck we'll see seals and pinguins :)

Hoe bedoel je die rotsen zijn niet zo oud??? Ik vind 12000 jaar toch best een eindje! Anyway, kom maar op met die foto's! Ga je nummer noteren in mijn telefoon, mag die ook buiten de grens z'n werk doen!

Thanks for your nice road report you send us and others today. I just had a look to CNN.weather.com and temperature there must be the same as in Holland at the moment. To cold for the time of the year.
You must be really in the South now with a look on the map.Hope you both see seals and pinguins tomorrow. Driving North will offer a more moderate climate.
Anxious to see some pictures from over there.

Wat ik heb gehoord van andere mensen die Nieuw Zeeland hebben bezocht, is dat het idd erg mooi is, dus ook ik ;) ben benieuwd naar een fotoreportage! Werd die grot echt zo verlicht door die gloeiwormen dat je geen ander licht nodig had? Wow! Dat zou ik ook wel eens willen meemaken.. bizarr.. Maak eens wat "Lord of the Rings" foto's daar ;) Zou grappig zijn...

Alweer zo'n reportage om jaloers op te worden? We hebben onlangs een prachtige fotoreportage gezien van een zoon van vrienden van ons. Hopelijk vinden jullie het daar net zo mooi als wij veronderstellen dat het is. Het verhaal over de "glowworms" komt ons in ieder geval al bekend
