After a month of winter in New Zealand, we're back in the Asian summer or better monsoon. More then a week ago we arrived in Singapore. People who say it's like Hong Kong, make a big mistake. Hong Kong is much nicer then Singapore, it's more Asian and has more atmosphere. But we did some nice shopping in Singapore and we travelled by train to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. KL was great with huge shoppingmalls, where I bought some nice outfits (and Chris as well). We would really like to return to KL and Malaysia to see some more of it and explore the culture :)
In Hat Yai, in the South of Thailand we were welcomed by people from the volunteer organisation we are going to 'work' with, Greenway. The camp for volunteers where we are going to stay is about 30 minutes by motor/car from Hat Yai. The Greenway camp is huge with a lot of huts and you feel like being in the middle of a rainforest or jungle (at night with a lot of jungle-like sounds). We have a nice 2 person hut with fan and musquito-net. Like most huts here, it's build on poles to prevent animals and water from getting in.
At the moment we are having a little holiday at the islands at the westcoast at the Andemansea. The coast where the tsunami hit 1,5 years ago. The people here are still re-building the resorts and really doing their best to cope with the mess the big wave left. We spent the first few days at Ko Libong, a not touristic island, which reminded me of St. Martin. Non-paved roads and power only avalible for a few hours per day. Our hut was really nice though, peaceful and with seaview. Now we are at the more lively Ko Lanta, which has power 24-hours and a real towncenter ;)
Next week we'll be starting our English lessons. About 3-4 hours per day, to schoolkids during the day and in the evening to the Thai staff of Greenway. We're really looking forward to our job and if someone has any good ideas to fill our lessons, please e-mail us :)

Heb je nummer opgeslagen, ga zeker een keertje smsén, altijd leuk toch? Veel succes volgende week met het geven van engelse les, altijd weer een beetje spannend toch? En wat gaat die tijd snel zeg; Nieuw Zeeland is echt omgevlogen!

Het blijft leuk om zo mee te lezen, reizen we toch nog een beetje mee.. hihi. Hier is de temperatuur inmiddels flink gestegen.Ik zweet mij kapot achter mijn balietje, zonder airco. Ga 's avonds om af te koelen lekker naar Willemstad met de hondjes pootje baden. Heerlijk!

Even een tijdje niet op de site gekeken , maar nu "bijgelezen"; weer prachtige foto's en zowaar een rit op de olifant ;leuke foto!geniet van je vakantie en we wensen je succes met het geven van de Engelse les(Helaas heb ik daar geen ervaring in) Wat is de beginsituatie van de kinderen??Hebben jullie de beschikking over leermiddelen? Wel goed je lessen voorbereiden.... en af en toe een toets afnemen misschien??Dat gaat vast wel lukken met jullie achtergrond.
